Always a diligent student, Reed graduated from what is regarded the most rigorous school in his home state of Oklahoma with (mostly) straight A’s, several college credits earned from AP classes, and a top 1% SAT score. He went on to the University of Virginia’s honors program, where he studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics (PPE) and graduated with distinction in 2011. After scoring in the top 1% on the GMAT, Reed stuck around Charlottesville to obtain his Masters Degree in Business.
Despite his academic focus on the logical and pragmatic, Reed’s lifelong love of film, theatre, and storytelling took him to Los Angeles, where he attended an acting school and wrote for the stage and screen. It was here that he began a parallel career in tutoring. In 2017, the opportunity to teach with one of the most respected and selective names in GMAT and GRE Test Prep took Reed to New York City, where he lived for six years.
True to his name, Reed has always been an avid reader. He plays piano quite well and guitar quite poorly. He has won awards for his screenplays and short films in festivals around the country (though few that you’ve heard of or care about). His first feature film, Do Us Part, is on the onset of what he hopes will be a successful festival run, but which could surely end up being a huge waste of money.
In 2023, Reed moved back home to Oklahoma with his wife, Laura, to start a family. When Starling arrived, parenthood hit him like a ton of bricks. Now with two young girls, Reed doesn’t read as much as he once did, or play piano quite as skillfully, or sleep — but Starling calls him “Dada,” which is really hard to beat.
