"Whoever wishes to foresee the future must consult the past; for human events ever resemble those of preceding times. This arises from the fact that they are produced by men who ever have been, and ever will be, animated by the same passions, and thus they necessarily have the same result"

- Niccolo Machiavelli

Though he sometimes refuses to admit it, Mac has loved school environments from the moment he stepped foot in one. Raised in a small Southern prep school, he graduated cum laude and second in his class, collecting honors in history, Latin, and clarinet performance, as well as an IB diploma with 40 points. High school also brought his first taste of teaching—tutoring middle school students after hours and helping international students adapt to American curricula.

After graduation, Mac charted a northern course to Harvard, where he’s currently a senior double-majoring in Classics and History, with a minor in the Comparative Study of Religion. Outside of class, Mac plays rugby, writes for the Harvard Crimson, and has earned several academic honors—including the John Harvard Scholarship, the Detur Book Prize, and the Newbold Rhinelander Landon Memorial Award for excellence in the Classics.

Although Mac’s heart belongs to the humanities, he’s always had a soft spot for math and science. Mac serves as the head undergraduate teaching assistant for Harvard’s introductory astronomy course, where he helps students make sense of stars, planets, and the occasional black hole.

After college, Mac plans to pursue graduate studies and a career in education—possibly in curriculum development, possibly in education law. He’s not entirely sure where the path will lead, but as long as it keeps him close to students and the classroom, he knows he’ll be right where he belongs.
