Lily Weisberg is a writer and filmmaker who delights in helping students become clear, confident, and artful writers. She graduated from Yale University with a B.A. in Humanities, earning distinction in the major and twice receiving the Wallace Prize—Yale’s highest independently awarded writing honor. She also spent a great deal of time studying Shakespeare, but she promises to save the soliloquies for special occasions.
Lily’s films have screened at festivals across the country, including Montclair, Santa Fe, and Mystic. Her most recent short, Working Summer, premiered internationally at the Raindance Film Festival in London, was selected as one of NoBudge’s Films of 2024, and earned her recognition as a “director to watch” by Director’s Notes. She is also the co-founder of Modern Silent Shorts, an initiative commissioning young directors to create contemporary silent films accompanied by live, original music, most recently performed at Mama Farm in Bellport, Long Island.
As a tutor, Lily helps students refine their voices, embrace the craft of writing, and rediscover the pleasure of curiosity and clarity in expression. To her, great writing is equal parts precision and wonder, and she’s happiest when her students discover both.
