HSPT Test Prep

The High School Placement Test (HSPT), predominantly used by Catholic High Schools for both admissions and course placement, offers a wide-ranging assessment of a student’s academic readiness. Spanning five sections—verbal, quantitative, reading comprehension, mathematics, and language skills—the HSPT is fast-paced and uniquely structured, requiring not only mastery of content but agility under time constraints.

Grey Eyed Owl approaches HSPT preparation with our signature three-phase method, combining foundational instruction with strategic refinement. In place of the KAPLAN materials used in other programs, we opt for Barron’s comprehensive guides, which more closely mirror the HSPT’s format and rigor. Students strengthen their verbal reasoning with focused practice on analogies, synonyms, antonyms, logic, and sentence completions; solidify quantitative reasoning and computational fluency; and develop strong grammar and usage instincts through guided drills in punctuation, capitalization, spelling, and sentence structure.

Our aim is not simply to boost scores, but to ensure students walk into the exam with confidence, clarity, and the academic habits that will carry them far beyond the HSPT itself.
