High School Psychology

What makes us who we are? Why do we remember, desire, forget, dream? At Grey Eyed Owl, Psychology is more than a science—it’s a guided journey into the architecture of the mind and the mysteries of human nature. We invite students to ask big questions and follow them inward, exploring the forces that shape thought, behavior, memory, and identity.

Rooted in the foundations of AP Psychology, our courses cover neuroanatomy, sensation and perception, learning and memory, consciousness, development, emotion, and mental health. But we also reach beyond the textbook, drawing from the insights of Freud and Skinner, Jung and Maslow, to examine the deeper currents of personality, desire, and the self. Along the way, students consider how culture, language, relationships, and experience shape what it means to be human.

Through discussion, case studies, and reflective analysis, GEO students don’t just study the mind—they begin to understand their own. They leave with new tools for thinking clearly, feeling deeply, and seeing others with greater empathy and insight.

  • What does it mean to think, to feel, to learn? Students explore the human mind through the dual lenses of psychology and neuroscience, examining memory, behavior, emotion, and cognition. This course is both scientific and humanistic — a study of what it means to be a person, and how understanding the brain can help us live better, fuller lives.

  • Blending social science with scientific inquiry, AP Psychology introduces students to the study of human behavior and cognition. Students investigate everything from brain structure and development to personality theory and social psychology, applying critical thinking and ethical reasoning throughout. This course encourages intellectual curiosity and provides a solid foundation for future study in the behavioral sciences.
