Never one to confine himself to a single path, Devin has been a filmmaker, actor, startup founder, market research consultant, admissions consultant, and test prep teacher — plus, for two summers in college, a purveyor of artisanal cheese at farmers’ markets. He grew up in Westchester County, New York, where he attended the Rippowam Cisqua School and Rye Country Day School before graduating magna cum laude from Manhattanville University. There, he double majored in History and Theatre with a minor in English — or, as he prefers to put it, he “went to college for stories.”

That love of stories eventually led Devin to NYU, where he simultaneously earned an MBA from the Stern School of Business and an MFA in Film Producing from the Tisch School of the Arts. His work has since screened at festivals around the world, including Cannes, SXSW, and Tribeca, and won Best Pilot at the New York Television Festival.

Along the way, Devin began what would become a more than 20-year career in test prep and admissions consulting. He started with the SAT and eventually added the ACT, SSAT, ISEE, SHSAT, GRE, GMAT, LSAT, and enough other acronyms to make the alphabet itself nervous. While working for a certain purple test prep company, he was named its top GMAT instructor in New York City and quite literally helped write the book, contributing to multiple GMAT and LSAT textbooks and study guides. Over the years, he has helped thousands of students navigate the admissions process, with students ultimately attending many of the country’s top colleges, law schools, and business schools.

When he isn’t teaching, consulting, or making films, Devin maintains a truly unreasonable collection of mostly useless facts. Unlike most people who claim this, he has receipts: appearances on Jeopardy!, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, and The Million Second Quiz. So far, this has proven to be a far more effective use of obscure knowledge than anyone had a right to expect.
