Originally from Livingston, New Jersey (home to both Chelsea Handler and Chris Christie, proving that there is, indeed, balance in the universe), Coby graduated from Harvard with a bachelor’s degree in Linguistics and Cognitive Science. His interdisciplinary studies focused on decision making, human behavior, and Modern Middle Eastern Studies. While in college, Coby performed with a long-form improv troupe, which he insists is not a cult; the hoodies were merely a fashionable coincidence.

After spending three years in Los Angeles working in comedy, Coby’s work at GEO as a tutor has been rooted in the humanities, partnering with students to improve their technical writing while helping them discover and refine their unique voices.

At Harvard, Coby worked with the Admissions Office as a campus ambassador, giving tours to prospective students and facilitating First Year Orientation. Coby’s continued relationship with college admissions helped to build the foundations of the Grey Eyed Owl Student Journey & College Advising Program, where he now serves as a senior advisor. Coby is particularly adept at helping students craft a powerful, holistic narrative which shines through in Personal Statements and Supplemental Essays.

Waving farewell to West Coast sunsets, Coby moved to New York City to continue his work in data analytics, content strategy, and business intelligence at a media startup called the Free Press. When he’s not working with students, Coby loves watching stand-up comedy, running (try to catch him in various NYC Marathons), and zealously pursuing his quest to find the best slice of pizza in Gotham City.
