Ben graduated from one of the top public high schools in his state with straight A’s, top scores on AP exams, and a burning desire to read more books. He went on to Yale University, where he immersed himself in the major works of the Western canon, ruminating until the early hours of the morning, all while balancing his literary and philosophical studies with a transformative semester abroad in Nepal. Later in college, Ben discovered his passion for anthropology, social theory, and politics - more practical, yes, but also a lot more challenging at family gatherings.
After graduating from Yale with honors in Humanities, Ben moved across the country to Los Angeles to explore its vibrant grassroots politics and its thriving music scene. Though a newcomer to the West Coast, Ben remains constantly in awe of the colors painting the LA sunset, even though he’s usually stuck in traffic while appreciating them.
Though his academic focus has been broad, Ben’s love for language is most evident in his English and Verbal skills. He harbors a genuine passion for reading and rhetoric, alongside a somewhat alarming enthusiasm for correcting his friends’ pronunciation of difficult words. Outside of the virtual classroom, Ben is a community organizer in public housing, working to empower low-income residents to advocate for better living conditions while championing expanded tenant protections and more permanently affordable housing across the city.
Off the clock, you can often find Ben behind a guitar and writing music. When he finds a moment to slow down, he usually makes enemies with the neighbors by loudly rooting for Boston sports teams. Whether you think of this as a birthright or a symptom of a terrible disease, his enthusiasm is (hopefully) endearing.
